When two friends get together and one looks through the other’s jewelry box to find pieces of Jade jewelry, a new brand forms. Seree is a jewelry brand based in New York, founded by Chloe Zhao (former PR agency owner) and Eva Zhang (former financier).
Jade jewelry has a long history, especially in the Asian culture, but today many people wear Jade for it’s healing properties it brings mentally and physically. Seree beautifully merges traditional with modern elements to create pieces that any age will enjoy wearing.
This elegant stone is the perfect complement to other pieces you own like pearls, shells, gold and silver jewelry. Hence, why you should add pieces from Seree as part of your daily jewelry wearing combo.
Q: Where does the name Seree come from?
It’s the prefix to Serendipity which is a word we both love. We believe in finding something around the corner or by luck. It’s like finding a 5 dollar bill in your back pocket. Like discovering a beautiful Jade bangle you never knew you needed.
Q: When did you start Seree?
We were lucky enough to launch in May 2021 during API (Asian Pacific Islanders) awareness month. This gave us wider publicity since we’re both Chinese. We have a good mix of customers from all different nationalities. So far everyone has found our designs refreshing.
Q: Tell me more about using Jade stone in your pieces.
Chloe: There’s two aspects. First, the look of jade is so versatile because it comes in different colors like blue, pinks, ambers. The actual material [stone] is friendly. Spiritually, Chinese believe that Jade can interact with the person who wears it. Jade can bring the best out of you. The color can represent your mood or inspire a mood. It can bring inner peace.
Eva: my grandmother wore pieces since she was little to 80 years old now, she said that the veins of the Jade have changed. Your natural skin oil will polish it over time. It absorbs your energy too.
Q: How often will you launch your new collections?
Our drops are more frequent than typical fashion seasons. We have lots of ideas and excited to get them out. Our collections are available online with a limited stock run and pre-orders.
Q: What’s your vision with Seree in the next year?
We would love to do collaborations with other designers and Jade accessories. We also have Seree Lab collection Gen Z while designing pieces for all different generations.
