Louis Vuitton X Exhibition

“Fashion is not about utility. An accessory is merely a piece of iconography used to express individual identity.”

from the movie, Devil Wears Prada

160 years of historic creative collaborations under one roof by none other than the iconic Parisian brand Louis Vuitton. This artistic journey features 180 items from Louis Vuitton archives. Each room is meticulously curated to highlight past partnerships with Karl Lagerfeld, Jeff Koons, Rei Kawakubo, Yayoi Kusama, Zaha Hadid, Sol Lewitt and others.

I visited this visual exploration a few days before their original closing date Sept. 15 but luckily they announced an extension running until Nov. 10. For those in other parts of the world, hang tight. Louis Vuitton will be taking this exhibition on the road.

Before you enter the first room, you’ll be greeted by a man (most likely a hired actor) to tell the tale of Louis Vuitton and how he got started. He does a fantastic job and it sets the tone for the tour, so don’t skip out on this part.

Savvy Tip: each room has a knowledgeable person ready to explain what the room presents and the history behind it. Ask questions.

The top floor features a highly curated pop-up shop. It includes fragrances, scarves, shoes, leather goods, women’s apparel and travel books. The travel books make great gifts and priced at $58, so think ahead for the holidays. The packaging alone is worth it.

There are a few exclusive items for this boutique. They include a hot-stamp Beverly Hills luggage tag and card cases, an Israel-designed silk wave scarf and a special-edition hardcover book about the ArtyCapucines Collection.

Located at 468 North Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills CA. Free admission. Visit online HERE for more information.
