Shop My Closet: Spring Floral Maxi Dresses

Mood: Bright

Weather: Sunny, warm

Outfit Purpose: Being Extra

Style Savvy: One of my favorite pieces to wear during Spring/Summer are maxi dresses and skirts. Especially if they are flowy and have little details to make it that much extra. Hence feeling “extra” in this Who What Wear x Target dress I bought last Fall, knowing full well I’d get a lot of wears with this one. I consider this dress on the classic level because of the cut, colors and print. It’s a piece that won’t go out of fashion. And that’s savvy shopping!

Now I know I look dressed up here because of my bow-tie yellow stappy heels (comes in pink and nude too), also from Who What Wear x Target (shop HERE). BUT the other day I wore this dress very casually with a straw hat, flat sandals, basket bag and denim jacket. For a sporty vibe, pair a leather moto jacket and sneakers with a cross body bag or backpack.

When I’m shopping I tend to ease drop on women commenting about pieces they’re looking at. Dresses like this tend to get comments like, “This is pretty but too dressy.” With my style tips above, maybe you can visualize how to casually style feminine maxi dresses. I’ll be posting the two casual looks I described in the coming weeks. This is a great way to show you how I’m truly ‘shopping my closet’ and how you can too!

Personal Style: Feminine Florals

What’s Going On: I’m going to be honest here, I’m feeling a little strapped with my cash flow right now. I’ve been pretty good about budgeting and saving but since the new house, I’ve been spending a lot. Also my bills increased as well. Financial fears are probably one of my biggest insecurities. Whenever I’m feeling “tight” with my dollars, I get anxious and stressed. I don’t socialize as much. I might get into more arguments with my fiancé and my temper might be a bit short.

It’s so annoying that I can let this affect me that much. When I was in my 20’s I didn’t care much about money. I made it and spent it. Now, if I don’t have a cushion that’s comfortable for me, I get all squirrely. I think it’s good for women to share their experiences/feelings about finances with each other. We talk about everything else. Especially during these times of advocating for women’s rights yet again, why not share about this as well? I’m not saying you have to divulge what you make, save, spend down to the penny…just open up about your feelings and let’s support each other more.

That’s my rant. I had no idea I would write about this today. Again, thank you for reading my blog, glad you stopped by! XO, M
