Shop My Closet: Pastels for Spring

Mood: Indifferent

Weather: Partial cloudy, chilly

Outfit Purpose: First Day of Spring

Style Savvy: Pastels for Spring? Groundbreaking. Pastels are everywhere this Spring. I’m not much of a pastel wearer but this season, I’m definitely on the pastel train due to lilac and seafoam green. I’m also loving the palest of pinks. It’s fascinating to me how our tastes and styles evolve/change and then circle back to what we loved years ago. I love this cycle. For me I’ll gravitate towards a color or print even when it’s not on trend.

BUT this season boasts pastels and I’m feeling it for my wardrobe. Case in point, these BDG high rise cords from Urban Outfitters (shop HERE) are in the palest pink making it a neutral color that’s easy to mix-n-match with many colors. See how I styled these pink cords from a previous post with the color red HERE.

I paired a lilac top from Zara (bought during their big sale in January, knowing that lilac/violet is the color of the year). My Jimmy Choo pumps (similar HERE and HERE and HERE) I’ve had since 2013. It goes to show, a classic shoe style in a pop of color will last you basically forever.

What’s Going On: My mood “indifferent” says it all. I’m happy overall. I just have days where I feel blah, less motivated or overwhelmed. Right now I don’t know where I’m at, hence the indifference. I’ve been on “new home” mode for almost 2 months now and it’s a lot. It’s fun decorating but there’s also a lot of upkeep for a big house. My weekends don’t consist of rest, so by Monday I’m actually tired.

This is when I need to set aside 10-15 minutes to meditate on all the things I’m grateful for in life. Sitting still and tuning out all the noise and feelings allows me to rejuvenate. If only for the day, I’ll take it!

Also, my fiancé and I have been spending so much money on our new home with furnishing, fixing, adding, etc. We set aside a certain amount to spend and we’re doing well with our budget but it seems like it’s never going to end. Everyone tells us that it’s just in the beginning and it will settle down. I sure hope so. This is also where I have to sit still and be grateful for even owning a beautiful home to decorate. It’s the first day of Spring and I want to play today, not work. Are you with me on this?
