Shop My Closet: How to Style Rainbow Stripe Tops

Mood: Constructive

Weather: Gloomy, light showers, chilly

Style Savvy: I’m loving multi-colored stripes anything right now. Not necessarily the colors of the rainbow, although I did see a few pairs of shoes that are calling my name. Why I’m loving multi-colored stripes … because you can pair it with anything. A ribbed t-shirt for instance, is definitely one way to create many outfits.

Now I know you’re thinking, eww no way on the horizontal stripes it makes me look wider. This is so false ESPECIALLY when the stripes are different colors and different size stripes. Or if the stripes are super thin. It’s funny to me how all these old style myths still circulate. I’m here to defunct the striped theory now. Don’t believe me? Just at least try some on. Okay? Do me a solid and get back to me. Heck you can even take photos, ask my opinion. I’m opening this up to you via email: savvynista@gmail.com.

I took my $17.99 Zara ribbed striped tee and styled it a few different ways below. Nothing I have on is that new. My Cotton On white denim skirt is from a year ago. My PAIGE denim jacket from 6 years ago; and River Island red blazer & black jeans, Cabi belt, Louise et Cie heels all from fall/winter last year. You can literally shop your closet if you make savvy purchases. I hope this inspires you!

What’s Going On: Starting to put some pieces in place to launch a blog/social media workshop for new bloggers/influencers. I’ve been marinating this for a year and finally feel ready to put it into action. After being in journalism, media relations and social marketing for 20 years, I feel it’s time to give back what I know. I love mentoring budding business girls and what better way then to start with a small in-person workshop then take it online to the masses.

I’m in a few FB groups with like minded-women and recently read a thread where a few ladies are using a busy life as an excuse to not start a blog, business or whatever it is they want to start. Yes, I know kids, a husband, a job, etc. take up a lot of time but here’s what I wrote in the thread (because they asked for advice): Think about a time when you were busy doing life but really wanted that “fill in the blank”. You did everything you could to get it because nothing was going to stop you.

That’s the drive you should feel if you want to start a blog or business. It shouldn’t be, I can’t find the time or do you have any tips on how to start? Just start. That’s my tip. It’s fear that usually paralyzes you. I know for me it does at times. Or maybe you’re not really passionate about your idea like you thought. Either way, it doesn’t hurt to carve out a 1/2 hour to an hour a day to find out.
