DAY 25: Shop My Closet 365 Days Challenge

Mood: Down

Weather: Cloudy, somewhat warmish

Outfit Purpose: Out & About

Style Savvy: This is how to wear actual PJs in a chic way. I took my Victoria’s Secret silk pajama top and tied it at the waist, pairing it with my Forever 21 leopard print pencil skirt, Jimmy Choo pumps and H&M clutch bag. If you’re going to try wearing your boyfriend PJs out in public, make sure you don’t wear them together. Wear separately and pair it with a piece that’s structured so it leaves people guessing, “Is she wearing pajamas?”

Personal Style: Day-to-Night Savvy Chic

What’s Going On With Me: I swear this roller coaster of emotions is finally irritating me. I feel I’m done with it. I’ve allowed myself many days for a few months to be okay with being sad, angry, depressed, unhappy, all the emotions one goes through during a divorce. Everyone keeps telling me that it’s okay to feel these feelings and allow myself time to process and heal. I get that but I’m over it. Finally. I just want to smile and be out there doing my thing again. Yes, there have been a few good days but very few. I literally didn’t change out of my PJs until 5pm today only because I’m meeting some newish girlfriends tonight. And you’re going to laugh but I kept my PJ top on (photos below), so I only got out of half my PJs today.

On a different topic, I must voice my opinion about Facebook during a breakup or divorce. My ex and I agreed not to post anything about our personal situation on Facebook and photos of us with someone we might be “hanging” out with while going through our divorce. It hasn’t even been 3 months and he tagged a woman on two status updates recently. Now she could be just a friend that he went to the Dodger game with or she could be something more but I don’t need to see that. I know you can block people’s updates but I didn’t think I had to with him yet.

It’s insensitive of him to tag a woman singularly in a Facebook post knowing that I will see it. I have yet to do anything like that. Although one could debate that writing this blog everyday might fall into that category. Besides, he never reads my writing anyway. He never did when we were married. Although he said he supported my writing efforts and creative vision he really didn’t. Every time he saw me on the computer, he would give me the rolling of the eyes. Sometimes he would even say to me, “You’re always at your computer why don’t you go do something.” Umm, because the computer is the tool I use to do “something” with.

Thoughts: When we get sick and tired of being sick and tired, then we’re ready to make a change. I’m at the point where I’ve been in enough pain, enough heartache, enough sadness that I’m finally ready to change it up. I view it this way… you know those favorite dark skinny jeans tucked away in your closet because you need to lose a few LBs before you can wear them again? So you reach for those not so cute baggier jeans that work but don’t make you feel great. Days, weeks, months go by and you’re still torturing yourself about losing weight so that you can wear those damn skinny jeans. At that point you say, “Enough is enough” and that’s when you got tired of being sick and tired. Today is that day for me.
