How to Get Rid of Stomach Bloat

The headline says it all right? Well not the solution, obviously. Yes, I’m here to talk about the things we only discuss with a close friend or doctor. Stomach bloat and losing that pesky 5 to 10 lbs after the age of 40.

Here’s what’s been happening and maybe you can relate. During the middle of summer I stepped on a scale and it flashed 130 lbs. What?! And yes I checked again, still 130. I’m 5’4″ and have a thin frame. This is the heaviest I’ve ever weighed!

I noticed my belly bloating more and not going down. I was trying to ignore it. And yes, I noticed my clothes not quite fitting as well, also trying to ignore that. But after seeing with my own eyes I’ve gained 10 lbs. well that was it for me.

Here’s some other facts about my body. I’m blessed with good genes so I’ve played a bit lazy and took advantage. I love sweets and was eating basically whatever I wanted, still in some kind of moderation. I’m not much of a bread person or eat fast food, but I do love pasta. I don’t exercise. I KNOW! So bad. My excuse is that I’m on my feet for 4-5 hours straight 3 days a week wardrobing clients. Does that count?

Now that you have a general idea of what I was doing, let’s circle back to my stomach. That’s where I gain my weight and bloat. Somedays I looked like I was 4-5 months pregnant. First thing that needed to happen was to cut out sweets. Secondly, start exercising.

I started easy with fast walks up and down hills for 30 minutes, stretching before and after. I do this 2-3 days a week. Then I incorporated some strength training with my 5 lb weights and some Pilates at home 2-3 days a week. I’ve done Pilates off and on for over 20 years, so I know what to do at home.

Food was a bit trickier. I needed to get mindful about calories, sugar and carbs. Since I love pasta I use brown rice or quinoa noodles. If I do want something sweet, it’s low calorie, low sugar and a small portion. I’ve incorporated smoothies which helps curb the sweet tooth.

I’m already a veggie/salad person so that didn’t have to be altered. When I eat out I order something that I would typically make at home. Sometimes it’s hard to eat super clean and healthy while dining out so I don’t beat myself up over the times I don’t or can’t order a meal that way.

Lastly, I’ve incorporated a daily Probiotic and it seriously helps with my bloating issues. I knew I needed to start taking one so I finally wised up. The one I’m taking right now is by Physicians Choice 60 Billion Probiotic. Get 25% off using code 60Bill25OFF.

I’ve been at this for 2 months and have lost 6 lbs. I would love to lose the last 4 lbs but it’s been a lot harder since I’m over 40 years old. At least I’m feeling healthier, looking toned and no more pregger bloat belly.

The hardest part for me is to keep the exercise up. The past couple of weeks I haven’t moved as much. At least I know I have it in me and all I have to do is just start.
