DAY 42: Shop My Closet Boho Chic

Mood: Mellow

Weather: SoCal Sunshiney Day

Outfit Purpose: Weekend Warrior

Style Savvy: Felines are pretty mellow and since I’m in that mood today this was the perfect outfit to piece together from my wardrobe. This t-shirt by Mr. Guy Person I did a little DIY and made it into a muscle tee then paired it with my leopard print skirt by AQUA (for Bloomingdales), Mango belt, Steve Madden moto boots, vintage Louis Vuitton messenger bag, Buddha to Buddha sterling silver jewelry and my handy dandy iPhone Pursecase™. I used my black and white leopard skirt and silver jewelry to offset all the brown tones in most of my pieces. That way I don’t look to matchy matchy. Dig?

Personal Style: Boho Chic

What’s Going On With Me: Ahhh … I can breathe today. I slept in late and my kitties even did too. Normally they wake me up early but I think that they knew I needed to sleep. Waking up in my own bed at whatever time I wanted set the tone for my day which was mellow. I made a trip to my sister’s house (she lives 15 minutes away) and she filled me in on what’s going on with her. She’s actually auditioning for a cover band for the female vocal lead. Super cool! She wanted to go shop for some stage looks and perfect timing having me there as her stylist for the day. I LOVE dressing musicians and singers, especially for the stage. If the person is game for anything, then game on! Or should I say style on! Although my sis didn’t buy anything she had some ideas for when she’s ready. Sometimes it’s just good to try things on to see what direction feels right. I call this research (wink).

I just realized something today when I was talking to my sister…that I feel like myself again. Towards the last few years of my marriage I felt like I was compromising many parts of who I am to make my marriage harmonious. And now that It’s just me, I literally feel like the old Maria doing what I do best. It’s like a rebirth and it feels fantastic! In the short amount of time being in San Diego, I’ve been making connections and working it. I’ve reconnected with some friends that I hadn’t spoken to in awhile which has been super helpful. I’m so grateful I have such amazing friends from all over the world and even though we may not always chat, when we finally connect it’s like old times.

Thoughts: There’s no perfect time to start your life, find your passion, try a new hobby, travel, fall in love, write a book, start a blog, etc., etc. Go into everything with no expectations. Just try it and see what unravels you might be surprised. There is no failure in trying, just experience.
