DAY 29: Shop My Closet Sunday Funday

Mood: Delighted

Weather: Very warm sunny day

Outfit Purpose: Sunday Funday

Style Savvy: You don’t have to go on vacation to look chic. Take your vacation pieces and wear them during your “staycation” in your own city. Mixing patterns and prints is always a tricky task but that’s why I’m here to show you what works. This DVF tunic top has large colored geometric patterns that play off my black and white striped shorts from White House | Black Market. The wide black ribbon came with the shorts but I used it to tie around my tunic instead. In keeping with more play on black and white, I paired my fave summer season Sam Edelman wedges (also worn here on Day 9) and a Banana Republic fedora (from last year).

Personal Style: Staycation Chic

What’s Going On With Me: I think most people like themselves best when they are feeling good inside and out and affecting people around them in a positive way. I believe we feed off others energy. For instance, earlier in the day my mom and I were taking photos for my blog and I was a bit cranky and grumpy. Probably because I was hungry. I usually turn into a monster when I get hungry. Who wouldn’t? Of course I felt bad and apologized but I noticed I put her in a grumpy mood too.

Later I was getting ready to head out for the evening and was feeling chipper and delighted to have some fun. My mood was light and jovial. I carried myself differently. Being positive and smiling affected the people around me tonight in an uplifting and inspiring way. I can only continue to be this way if I take care of myself first. That means eating right, exercising, getting outside, sleep, etc. It feels good when I make others feel good. Look I’m realistic, I know there are going to be Debbie Downer days and that’s okay, that’s life. During that moment, it’s good to reach out and call your friend who just ate, exercised, got outside and had a good night’s sleep so that he or she can shed a little sunshine to perk up your day.

Thoughts: It’s all about attraction rather than promotion. This saying goes with anything in life. If you’re in a good groove people often want whatever juice you’re drinking so they can groove like you as well. Just saying.
