DAY 102: Shop My Closet Urban Street Chic

Mood: Spirited

Weather: Warm & Sunny

Outfit Purpose: Out & About

Style Savvy: This is LOOK #5, the last look of my How to Wear Black Jeans 5 Different Ways. If you missed the other 4 looks, click HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE. Today was my casual day (yes in heels). You can opt for a more sensible shoe with this outfit like a ballet flat, ankle boots or sandals. I paired my Zara black jeans with a gunmetal grey shirt, SINGLE bomber jacket and tassel lariat necklace. Sometimes all you need is a cool printed lightweight jacket to make an otherwise “ok” outfit, unique and memorable. Not to mention put you in good spirits for the day!

Personal Style: Urban Street Chic

What’s Going On: Feeling spirited today because I had something to look forward to getting dressed up for tonight. No, I didn’t wear this outfit to the event, this was my daytime look. I attended the San Diego chapter of Dress For Success charity event at Hotel Palomar in downtown SD. Because I’m trying to cultivate new connections and grow my business in this new city I reside in, I’m making my way out to events around town that make sense for what I do.

It’s challenging to start all over again. Well, not completely all over but to some respects it is. I know a lot of women feel this way when they go through a divorce. It’s hard to put yourself back out there and have the confidence. After I got over my zombie like state when I was in shock by how my world took a 180, I had to go back to the basics of who I am and what I believe in. I knew I still had something to say and something to do in life. That’s what inspired this challenge in the beginning, oh and also that I had spent pretty much all my money shopping while in shock.

Everyday I focus on what makes me happy, what inspires me, what motivates me and I keep moving forward. Trust me, there are days where it’s hard to feel this way and I really have to dig down deep and scrape at the bottom of the barrel to get going. Once I’m doing even the smallest thing, it jumps starts my day. I’ve also committed to doing this challenge/blogging everyday for a whole year and that keeps me motivated as well.

One of my friend’s described this story similar to Eat, Pray, Love but through fashion. He also mentioned that my story while doing this challenge is a journey of healing and hope which is hopefully what I’m conveying. I also have 263 days of writing about this so there’s plenty of time to share all the personal highs and lows, challenges, successes and hopefully love again.
