Skincare Gadgets Worth and Not Worth Buying

Nowadays there are many different tools and gadgets for your face and body that you can use at home. BUT which ones should you get? More importantly do they actually work?

Over the past several months I tested some trending skincare tools and gadgets. I was skeptical about a couple but to my surprise they actually worked. If you haven’t tried any of these yet, you might want to add a couple to your skincare routine.

NuFace Trinity® Facial Toning Kit

SHOP HERE

Worth the Buy? YES.

Why I love it: This is the most expensive gadget but worth every penny. I was skeptical that it wouldn’t produce the lifting and tightening results it states but it actually works! I don’t often switch the attachments, I tend to keep it on the facial trainer attachment (looks like 2 humps). I find this one works the best to contour and lift my face.

How to use it: You definitely need to apply the gel that comes with it. And generously. As you glide the device in one swoop, when you hit the edge of your face keep it there until you hear the beeps. With most tools, you always want to glide upwards, never down. That’s the opposite effect of what we’re trying to achieve.

2-in-1 Gold Facial Massager – T Shape and 3D Roller

SHOP HERE

Worth the Buy? YES.

Why I love it: Frankly I prefer the 3D Roller over the T Shape massager. But they both feel nice. The 3D (ball) massager hits parts of my face and neck that feel so good. As far as “lifting” goes, I didn’t notice much of a difference. It’s a great tool to massage in your serum and face oil/moisturizer.

This is especially helpful for people with allergies and sinus issues, like myself. It helps loosen up the nasal passages and relaxes the muscles that stiffen up around the eyes and forehead.

How to use it: Pretty much all gadgets for the face you want to go in an upward direction. You never want to be pulling on your skin. There’s a handy graphic below (jade roller) that shows what direction you should be using all these tools. AND YES, it goes for all of them.

Jade Roller and Gua Sha Stone Set

SHOP HERE

Jade Roller

Worth the Buy? YES.

Why I love it: I have two of these babies. A yellow and green one. I don’t care who you are, get one because it ALWAYS feels great rolling your neck and face with a jade roller. The real stone stays cool and helps reduce puffiness in the morning. They also make great gifts too!

How to use it: You always want to start from your chest/neck because this helps drain your lymphatics. Then work your way up to the lower part of your face, middle and upper part. See graphic below for directions. These directions below pertain to all facial tools.

Gua Sha Stone

Worth the Buy? NO.

Why I don’t love it: This stone has a bit of a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it feels okay. I prefer the jade roller over this stone. I didn’t feel or see much of a difference in my skin or reduction of puffiness using the Gua Sha. But it’s fairly inexpensive and if you’re into trying something new, try it.

How to use it: Here’s a handy graphic that shows how to use this stone.

Glass Cup for Facial Cupping

SHOP HERE

Worth the Buy? NO.

Why I don’t love it: Even though I read the not so favorable reviews about face cups, I was still curious to test it out. Most reviews said these types of cups are difficult to use. I have to agree. First you have to get you skin to suction tightly and try not to let any air get in while you glide it across your face. The suction ball can also get tiring on your hands.

Once I did get the hang of it, I loved how rosy my face looked and it got my circulation flowing.

How to use it: Like I mentioned above, there’s a bit of a learning curve. Even if you master it, it’s still too much work for too little pay off.

Beauty Bio GloPro Microneedling Regeneration Tool

SHOP HERE

Worth the Buy? NO.

Why I don’t love it: I was seriously disappointed in this one. I really wanted it to work because I had microneedling done by my skincare specialist in the past and loved it. It’s just not the same. I also started breaking out after using it, even though I cleaned it with alcohol after every use.

Sometimes your skin will break out when first trying new skincare products, so I gave this gadget more testing time. I didn’t like the results and actually made my skin worse. I asked my skincare specialist why this tool didn’t work. She said that products like this can’t get approved for medical grade needles which are more fine and less harsh on your skin. Good to know.
